The Biden Administration has asked the FTC to establish rules on surveillance and the accumulation of data.  Such rules will have strategic impact.   FTC Commissioner Rebecca Slaughter says these new rules will require data minimization, but what is the minimal data for training algorithms?  It will be targeted to combat abusive processing, but it still needs to work within the FTC Act.  It will address surveillance capitalism, but what is understood by what the term actually encompasses?   The IAF team has pivoted our research to this development.    The IAF community collectively needs to have a clear sense of how these rules will impact digital ecosystems.  That work begins with a Strategy and Policy Impact Video Call 18 November at the times and link below.  The IAF has asked experts to join us for an imaging of just what will be covered in such rules and how they will evolve.  The experts include Andy Serwin, Dan Caprio, Marc Groman and others.   If you are an American consumer facing business or a business that makes products for a consumer facing business or you represent those businesses, these rules will impact you.  If you are an international stakeholder that cares about interoperability, you will be impacted as well.
